  1. Captain James O’Malley

‘ve worn helmets from every major manufacturer over my career, but the Heritage Classic is in a league of its own. When our warehouse fire went to third alarm and the roof came down, this helmet took an impact that should have put me in the hospital. The suspension system and reinforced shell absorbed the blow completely. Beyond the safety features, the craftsmanship is remarkable. The leather molds perfectly to your head over time, and the traditional eagle frontpiece (customized with our department emblem) looks sharp during ceremonies. After 18 months of heavy use, it still looks and functions like new. This isn’t just equipment—it’s a piece of firefighting history that actually works.

“Worth every penny for a probie on a budget”

As a new firefighter with massive student loans, I couldn’t afford a premium helmet—until I found Legacy’s Probationary Package. For 40% less than their top models, I got a helmet that outperforms helmets costing twice as much. The composite shell feels solid, the suspension system is comfortable through 24-hour shifts, and it includes basic customization (my last name and badge number). After 6 months of academy drills and real calls, it’s holding up perfectly. The customer service was outstanding too—they answered all my newbie questions without making me feel inexperienced. This helmet will definitely last me until I can afford their top-tier model. For rookies wanting quality without breaking the bank, this is it.
